Spanish Primera Liga title race has become a three horse race after the shock defeat of leaders Barcelona to Villarreal.

Likes of Real Madrid and Sevilla have also joined the title race after the dismal performance by Barcelona. They are now just one point ahead of second placed Sevilla and two points ahead of Real Madrid.

Despite dominating the first half of the match, Barcelona was unable to score goals. Likes of Deco, Ronaldinho and Eto’o ruined plenty of chances in the first half.

Deadlock was finally broken in the second-half when Villarreal took the lead, thanks to brilliant goal from Robert Pires. Stunned by the Villarreal goal, Barcelona decided to attack more vigorously but the move backfired when Villarreal recorded their second goal.

The Barcelona defence failed to deal with a throw from the right flank, Marcos taking the advantage of error hammered it with the outside of his boot to give Villarreal a two goal cushion.
